Jennifer Bishop, LMHC, QS

Jennifer Bishop, LMHC, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Qualified Supervisor in the state of Florida with over two decades of experience in the mental health field. A native of Coral Springs, she graduated from Stoneman Douglas High School in 1997 before earning her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Central Florida. She went on to complete her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University in 2004. Jennifer became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in 2007 and earned her designation as a Qualified Supervisor with the state of Florida in 2010, allowing her to mentor and guide registered interns in the field.

Throughout her career, Jennifer has been dedicated to providing high-quality, client-centered care, with a specialization in working with children and adolescents. She integrates experiential methodologies such as play therapy and art therapy with cognitive-behavioral techniques to create a safe and nurturing space where clients can explore concerns related to ADHD, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, LGBTQ+ identity, divorce-related stress, and behavioral challenges. Her approach emphasizes emotional regulation, resilience-building, and the development of practical coping skills that empower clients in their daily lives.

Jennifer founded Genesis Counseling in 2015 as a solo practice with a vision of inclusivity, authenticity, and clinical excellence. In August 2020, she expanded Genesis into a group practice to create a collaborative and supportive environment for both clinicians and clients. Under her leadership, the practice has experienced remarkable growth and now operates four locations in South Florida—Boca Raton, Coral Springs, Delray Beach, and Pompano Beach—as well as offering virtual therapy services throughout the state. The practice is home to a diverse team of clinicians with varying specialties and expertise, ensuring that clients have access to a broad range of therapeutic approaches and evidence-based treatments.

Genesis Counseling has been recognized for its excellence in mental health services, receiving multiple prestigious awards, including Best of Florida for Child & Therapy Practices in 2023 and 2024, Best of Florida for Mental Health Practices in 2023 and 2024, Best of Boca in 2022, 2023, and 2024, and the Coral Springs Best Business Award in 2024, presented by the Mayor of Coral Springs. Jennifer is an active leader in the mental health community and is deeply involved in professional organizations and advocacy efforts. She is a member of the Broward County Mental Health Association, the Palm Beach County Mental Health Association, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Adolescent Community Network of Florida. She is also an active member of the Chamber of Commerce in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Coral Springs, and Pompano Beach. Since 2017, she has contributed articles to Boca Magazine, offering insights on various mental health topics.

In addition to clinical work, Genesis Counseling partners with universities across Florida, including the University of Central Florida, Florida Atlantic University, Palm Beach Atlantic University, and Nova Southeastern University, to provide practicum and internship opportunities for graduate students in mental health counseling programs. This initiative supports the next generation of mental health professionals while offering reduced-cost therapy options for clients working with interns.
