Fernando Zaldivar, M.S., RMHCI

Fernando Zaldivar, M.S., RMHCI, is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern who takes a warm, collaborative, and individualized approach to therapy. He works with adolescents, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional regulation difficulties, relationship challenges, and life transitions. As a bilingual clinician fluent in English and Spanish, Fernando values understanding each client’s unique background, experiences, relationships, and personal values.

Fernando earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology in 2022 and his Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2026 from Lynn University. His clinical experience includes working with individuals across residential, partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and outpatient levels of care, as well as providing individual and group counseling. He has experience addressing a range of concerns, including trauma, mood-related difficulties, behavioral patterns, family dynamics, anger management, and self-esteem.

Fernando takes an integrative, trauma-informed approach that incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, behavioral interventions, and solution-focused techniques. He works collaboratively with clients to identify unhelpful patterns, strengthen coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and develop greater self-awareness. By balancing deeper self-exploration with practical strategies, he helps clients translate insight into meaningful, lasting changes in their everyday lives.

Fernando believes that a strong therapeutic relationship is built on trust, authenticity, and a nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe being themselves. He strives to meet each client where they are, respect their individual pace, and work alongside them rather than simply telling them what to do. His goal is to help clients develop a stronger understanding of themselves, build confidence in navigating challenges, and create healthier patterns that support their personal growth. He believes that while the past can help explain our patterns, it does not have to define our future.

Fernando is a clinician with Genesis Counseling and is in-network with United Healthcare, Optum, Oscar, Cigna, Aetna, Florida Blue (BCBS), Curative, and Tricare East. He also accepts private pay clients, with session rates ranging from $125 to $175.
