Sarah Larsen, RMHCI
Therapist (All Ages)
Boca Office
Sarah Larsen is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI) in the state of Florida, providing therapy at Genesis Counseling’s Boca Raton office. She earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University in 2024 and works with clients ages 3 and up, offering care across the lifespan.
Sarah especially enjoys working with late adolescents and young adults, supporting individuals as they navigate identity development, academic stress, relationships, and major life transitions. She has a particular passion for working with neurodivergent individuals, including clients on the autism spectrum, and strives to create an affirming, supportive, and strengths-based therapeutic environment tailored to each client’s unique needs.
Prior to becoming a therapist, Sarah spent over 10 years applying behavioral training and behavior-change principles in zoological and aquarium settings. This unique background informs her clinical work and provides her with a deep understanding of behavior, learning, emotional regulation, and the human–animal bond. As a result, Sarah also specializes in supporting individuals experiencing animal-related grief, as well as those facing the emotional and occupational challenges common within animal care, veterinary, and zoological professions.
Sarah works with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, OCD, trauma, grief and loss, self-esteem, executive functioning challenges, school-related issues, social anxiety, and body image concerns. She also has experience supporting individuals, couples, and families navigating addiction and recovery, parenting challenges, divorce, adoption, personality disorders, sexual trauma, sports performance pressure, and LGBTQIA+ related concerns.
Her clinical approach is integrative and client-centered, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness-based interventions. Sarah also incorporates play therapy techniques, art-based interventions, emotional regulation strategies, and trauma-informed care when appropriate, allowing her to meet clients where they are developmentally and emotionally.
In session, Sarah emphasizes collaboration, emotional safety, and practical skill-building. She works to help clients increase self-awareness, build frustration tolerance, strengthen coping skills, and develop tools that support long-term growth and resilience.
As a Clinical Staff Therapist with Genesis Counseling, Sarah is in-network with United Healthcare, Optum, Oscar, Cigna, Aetna, FL Blue (BCBS), Curative, and Tricare East, and she also accepts private pay clients, with session fees ranging from $175–$275.
Sarah is honored to walk alongside clients as they work toward healing, self-discovery, and meaningful change. She offers in-person sessions at the Boca Raton office and is dedicated to providing compassionate, individualized care to clients and families at every stage of life.
