Marcela Medina is a committed and empathetic mental health professional at Genesis Counseling’s Delray office. She holds a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University and is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern. Marcela enjoys working with children, teens, adolescents, and young adults, fostering a strong therapeutic relationship to build trust and openness.
Marcela emphasizes self-awareness and strengths, passionately helping clients explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to gain insight into their challenges and develop strategies for positive change. She believes in every individual’s capacity for growth and resilience, committed to helping clients tap into their inner strengths and resources.
Rooted in person-centered therapy, Marcela integrates other evidence-based treatment modalities such as Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TI-CBT), Mindfulness, Play Therapy, Attachment Therapy, and Gestalt Therapy. She has experience working with Conduct Disorder, Mood Dysregulation, Depression, Anxiety, Substance Use Disorders (SUD), Adjustment Disorders, Crisis intervention across the lifespan, and ADHD.
Marcela believes that clients can heal when they feel safe, seen, and heard. She is passionate about creating a space for her clients to thrive, providing unconditional positive regard, empathy, compassion, and patience. With a trauma-informed approach, Marcela understands the impact of attachment and inner child wounds, grief, anxiety, depression, negative self-thoughts, and unhealthy coping skills. Her goal is to create a non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, understood, comfortable, and supported on their journey toward growth and self-discovery.
With over ten years of experience working within government entities, Marcela has supported, guided, and advocated for first responders and populations within the criminal justice system. She strives to help clients understand their past experiences and create a new way of living that aligns with their true selves.
Marcela is a Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern in the State of Florida. She is an Independent Contractor with Genesis Counseling. Marcela is In-Network with the following insurance panels; United Healthcare, Optum, Oscar, Signa, Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, Florida Blue, Humana and Tricare East. Marcela accepts private pay clients with a range of $125-$175.
