Sharona Johnson, RMFTI, earned her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Touro University Worldwide. She works with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds, with a particular interest in supporting adults experiencing substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, trauma, anxiety, and depression.

Sharona believes therapy is most effective when clients feel safe, heard, respected, and empowered to be their authentic selves. She takes a collaborative, client-centered approach and works alongside each client to develop individualized goals that reflect their unique experiences, strengths, and values. Her approach is compassionate, nonjudgmental, and trauma-informed, with an emphasis on building trust and fostering meaningful, lasting change.

Sharona utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Compassion-Focused Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. She has experience providing individual and group psychotherapy in outpatient and intensive outpatient behavioral health settings, supporting clients with substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, emotional dysregulation, relationship and family conflict, and life transitions.

Sharona is committed to helping clients develop practical coping skills, strengthen emotional regulation, build resilience, and create healthier relationships. She believes healing looks different for everyone and strives to meet each client where they are with compassion, empathy, and respect.

Sharona is a Clinical Staff Therapist with Genesis Counseling and is in-network with United Healthcare, Optum, Oscar, Cigna, Aetna, FL Blue (BCBS), Curative, Quest, and Tricare East. She also accepts private pay clients, with session rates ranging from $125–$175 per session.
