Jennifer Bishop, LMHC, founded Genesis Counseling in 2015, assuming the roles of both founder and principal clinician. Possessing licensure as a Mental Health Counselor and Qualified Supervisor in the State of Florida, Jennifer brings over two decades of seasoned expertise to her practice. A native Floridian hailing from Coral Springs, she graduated from Stoneman Douglas High School in 1997 before embarking on her academic journey at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, where she pursued her Bachelor’s Degree. Jennifer culminated her educational pursuit at Nova Southeastern University, obtaining her Masters in Mental Health Counseling in 2004.
Driven by a vision of inclusivity and authenticity, Jennifer established a group practice within Genesis Counseling. Her aim was to cultivate a nurturing environment where clinicians and clients alike could feel empowered to express themselves without reservation. Central to this vision is the creation of a multicultural, multilingual, and diverse space, ensuring that everyone feels welcome to both give and receive the care they require. Jennifer’s aspiration is to foster a professional haven where clinicians find lasting fulfillment in their careers, feeling supported, valued, and acknowledged, while clients receive seamless, princess-like treatment tailored to their needs, facilitating healing and growth.
Specializing in the provision of mental health services for children and adolescents, Jennifer integrates experiential methodologies such as play and art therapy with cognitive-behavioral techniques. Within the confines of her office, she endeavors to create a sanctuary where individuals can explore their concerns, whether stemming from ADHD, anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, LGBTQ+ matters, divorce-related stress, or behavioral challenges.
In 2020, Jennifer orchestrated the expansion of Genesis Counseling into a multidisciplinary private practice, placing a strong emphasis on healing and empowerment. Guided by her leadership, the practice has assembled a diverse team of therapists encompassing LMHCs, LMFTs, LCSWs, Registered Interns, a Psychologist specializing in assessments, and a Dietician. With physical offices strategically located in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and Coral Springs, as well as offering virtual services throughout Florida, the Genesis Counseling team collaborates with individuals, couples, families, and groups from various cultural backgrounds, addressing a wide spectrum of mental health and behavioral needs.
Dedicated to providing a seamless client experience, Genesis Counseling prioritizes continuity of care by actively engaging with pediatricians, psychiatrists, educators, and other key stakeholders within a client’s treatment network. The practice accommodates both private-pay and insurance clients and serves as a practicum site for interns from Nova Southeastern University, offering reduced private-pay fees for clients opting to work with these interns.
Looking ahead, Genesis Counseling anticipates further expansion, with plans to extend its reach into Wellington in the fall of 2024. While Jennifer is presently unable to accommodate new individual clients, she offers her expertise through consulting services, providing client consultations, qualified supervision, and guidance for therapists aspiring to establish their own private practices.
